A Doc's Life is a underground Medical Blog about some poor Singapore doctors. They are sibei sian and very buay song. Best practices not observed!
(Warning: Grammar is non existent in this blog. Those obsessively compulsive about good English please go no further and book an appointment to see your psychiatrist in Singapore.)

“。。。。。。”
aunty。。。我不会写,用汉语拼音可以吗?。。。”
她微笑着点头。
离开之前, 她说“。。。医生,你的华文还ok吗。。。再见。。。”
我也微笑了。
看着我的病人显示表,我 对自己说“好吧…another 18 more patients to go…”

  1. Impressive siah.

Reminds me of this story my friend told me (yes, I've been around so long I have a story for every occasion...):

Kantang Doctor spends 15 minutes educating patient about his disease using his limited Chinese.

    Patient is not appreciative.

Patient (in Chinese): Wah. Dr, your Chinese is quite crappy leh.

    KD is fed up.

KD (in Chinese): Sir, your health is even crappier!

  2. Long gone were the days when I could read, write and speak Mandarin fluently. I had to use an online english-chinese translator to help me to translate the english instructions to mandarin for a client!

It would be better if ask the patient to write themselves the instructions in chinese or whatever symbols they wished to use as you go through the dosage instruction.
